Welcome to the activities section of the COLORaDO project, where innovation comes to life.
Discover the meticulous processes and cutting-edge techniques that drive our mission to revolutionize damage detection with mechanoluminochromic materials.
The selection of the dye is a crucial aspect, as the additives must sense both in-plane and out-of-plane forces.
Moreover they must exhibit a change in their optical properties in response to the nano/microstructural changes CE that occur in the polymers due to mechanical forces.
Formulations and processing will be optimized to preserve mechanochromic properties of the dye and to minimize its content.
The material optical properties will be studied to find correlation between their variation and the magnitude of the applied force.
The detectable force range is expected to vary depending on the polymer matrix and the dye used, making this strategy extremely versatile.
The technology proposed will also be validated and demonstrated on a functional UAV prototype.
